View Full Version : Astra 1L william-1 23-07-2007, 02:10:48 Big switch to Astra 1L tonight,Astra 2C will be at 28.2 east very soon scan 10950 to 11200 GHz to find the new Astra 2C transponders currently this is a blank space in the Ku spectrum at 28.2 east, Astra 2C has full back up for the 10700 to 11200GHz & 11700 to 12200GHz it is quite possible that this satellite also has narrow footprint transponders to back up Astra2D we do not know all details of a satellite as not everything is made public, AtlanticBird-2 @ 8 west has transponders capable of Ku transponder's work in the Ku spectrum below 10950 GHz & you will not read that in the satellite specification william-1 23-07-2007, 14:30:43 Well the big switch has been put back for reasons unknown maybe next week:-S william-1 24-07-2007, 01:23:43 You will hardly notice it in the UK & France all transponder's are 51dBW Astra 2A & 2B has 109 watts travelling wave tube amplifiers, Astra 2C has 105 watts TWTA & Astra 2D is the weakest with 39 watts TWTA, Eurobird-1 UK footprint Fixed beam is 56dBW , Europe steerable-1 beam is 55dBW,Europe steerable beam-2 is 54 dBW no TWTA data found for the Eutelsat satellite Eurobird-1. I think it is the power of the TWTA that determines the size of the footprint hence Astra 2D has a very small footprint & Eurobird-1 fixed beam has the largest so the TWTA on this satellite must be higher than 109 watts, hope this helps explain it. vega1 28-07-2007, 19:44:23 still 6 transponder analog on 2c is then move to 1kr or 1l ? william-1 03-08-2007, 22:45:30 Astra 2C finished at 19.2 east all transponer's are on Astra 1 satellites now.Astra 2C will now move to 28.2 east. vega1 04-08-2007, 07:32:46 what location astra 2c now ? william-1 06-08-2007, 00:34:46 Astra 2C is at 19.2 east all transponder's transferred to Astra 1L & 1KR & will begin moving east tonight. vega1 06-08-2007, 01:06:12 what location of 2c at moment ? william-1 06-08-2007, 21:55:28 Sat tracker had its position at 19.33 east on 30/07/07 no other info at the moment.
